Speedy deletion nomination of Abhishek Iyengar

[edit]

Hello Abhi.iyengar,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Abhishek Iyengar for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Evano1van(எவனோ ஓருவன்) 07:39, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Abhishek Iyengar. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. With respect to your editing of the page Talk:Abhishek Iyengar, speedy deletion nominations are not assessed by some sort of voting, and a reason for not deleting does not become any more valid because the same reason is posted several times with different signatures. Also, you seem to have totally failed to grasp the reason given for the speedy deletion nomination. The nomination was because the article appeared to be promoting a person, and you are not likely to make a case against that reason by posting yet more promotion of that person, such as "the page is dedicated to an artist who has done wonders to modern day theatre in bangalore". Finally, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information about just anything. To qualify as the topic of an article, a subject has to satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines, and what you call "big TV or filmn stars" are more likely to be notable than what you call "a small guy".
